PREGANACY IS EXCITING. THE BIRTH OF A BABY, whether the 1st or 6th born is a joyous magical moment. It can also be life changing, profound and challenging.

Research shows that having a known expert with you each step of the way reduces the need for pain relief, c-sections and increases the satisfaction of the birthing experience (Continuity of Carer by Hoddenet).

I have attended over a 1000 births. In my last year of practise 70% of my clients birthed their baby at home 30% of babies were born in hospital 20% with assistance and 10% had a non-intervention birth. There were no c-sections! 100% of my clients were breast feeding on discharge.

I strongly believe in and have promoted nationally and internationally:
• Woman centred care
• Informed choice
• Continuity of care
• Choice of birthplace

I have been an independent midwife since 1990 a midwife since 1986 and health care professional for over 30 years.

In the next year I look forward to building working relationship with another Independent midwife, together we will have 40 years experience of attending homebirths and will be called ‘Brighton Independent Midwives’.

I have attended workshops with Michel Odent, Pam England, author of ‘Birthing From Within’, Jean Sutton, ‘optimal foetal positioning’ and Mary Cronk (and practised with). Also on complimentary therapies such as homeopathy, reiki, aromatherapy and Gentle Birth Method.

I maintain the professional requirement of annual emergency updates and I am a member of:
The Royal College Of Midwives
Independent Midwives Association
Association Radical Midwives
South Coast Independent Midwives
Keeping Birth Normal Group

I am well experienced in waterbirth, homebirths, HBAC (birth after caesarean at home) and in Canada I had hospital privileges, so was able to offer full midwifery care in the hospital environment establishing working relationships with doctors and nurses as well as a busy homebirth practise.

My home town is in Brighton, England. I travel through Sussex and Surrey and sometimes as far as Hampshire and Kent.

I am a mother of 2 grown up children.
